Agentic artificial intelligence (Agentic AI) represents a significant evolution beyond traditional automation and generative AI. The rationale for this paper is the rapid acceleration of AI capabilities and their growing impact on organizational operating models. The objective is to clarify the distinction between generative and agentic AI, outline governance considerations, and describe how operating models will evolve as humans and AI agents increasingly collaborate. The general methodology includes conceptual analysis, applied industry examples, and comparative historical analogy to prior workforce disruptions. Results indicate that agentic AI can augment productivity, compress decision cycles, reduce operational risk, and reshape reporting structures by enabling individuals to manage digital agents at scale. Significant conclusions suggest that organizations must implement governance frameworks, policy controls, and structured AI adoption strategies to remain competitive in increasingly automated environments. Rather than eliminating work, agentic AI will redefine roles, reduce hierarchical layers, and necessitate workforce adaptation and AI literacy at all organizational levels.
