Improving Stability with Adaptive Parabolic Control Algorithm, TAPPICon26
The Adaptive Parabolic Control Algorithm is a new PID replacement that performs well with nonlinear level controllers, noisy level indicators, and systems that require rapid response to load changes but slower response for unit optimization. Its implementation reduced compressor amp standard deviation by 90%, resulting in better energy efficiency and a 4% decrease in peak energy consumption. This significantly enhanced the system's stability, enabling it to support additional factory capabilities. After its success, it was adopted in other similar systems, such as hot-oil systems. This paper will describe the system to which it was applied, the solution, and the results.
