New improved quality inspection for food and liquid packaging board - innovative use of 3D detection for inspecting indents and outdents, and UV- technology for reliable inspection of oil, TAPPICon26

Ensuring the quality of food packaging board is vital for product safety, regulatory compliance, and consumer trust. As packaging acts as the first barrier protecting food, any surface defects, whether structural or contamination-related, can compromise the integrity of the product, leading to health risks, spoilage, or brand reputational damage. However, with the innovative use of 3D detection and UV technology, we can significantly enhance the quality of food packaging board, ensuring better compliance with industry standards.

Traditional inspection systems often fall short by relying solely on two-dimension imaging or basic light-based detection, which can miss subtle or elevated defects. Integrating advanced 3D detection and UV-light-based inspection technologies makes a more comprehensive and accurate surface quality evaluation possible, especially in high-speed board manufacturing.

This article discusses how the integration of high-resolution 3D defect detection and UV-light oil detection technologies enhances quality control for board and food packaging manufacturers. The 3D imaging technology can accurately identify surface irregularities, such as dents and elevated defects, down to 100 micrometers at production speeds exceeding 1,000 meters per minute. At the same time, the patented UV-light inspection technology significantly improves oil defect detection on packaging boards, achieving nearly 100% accuracy, compared to the approximately 50% accuracy of traditional methods. By incorporating UV-light into the defect detection process, manufacturers can quickly identify and address oil defects, ensuring that only flawless packaging materials proceed to the next production stages. This development gives board manufacturers greater confidence in detecting and mitigating oil defects that traditional methods may miss.

By utilizing these technologies together, manufacturers benefit from a comprehensive, real-time quality control process that ensures compliance with food safety standards and strengthens consumer confidence in the final product.
