The activity of laccase HRlike- and Mn-peroxidase, superoxide dismutase (SOD) and the level of proteins, sugar and superoxide radicals were determined in mycelia, primordia and fruit bodies of two Pleurotus strains ostreatus and sajor-caju. The fruiting followed the wheat bran - sawdust solid-state fermentation in the laboratory conditions. The two Pleurotus strains under study differed mainly in their enzymatic activity and content of methoxyphenolic substances. The manganese peroxidase (MnP) was detected only in fruit bodies but iu Pl . ostreatus the high activity of MnP and low activity of SOD were observed. They were opposite to PI. sajor-caju. These findings were connected with high activities of HRlike peroxidase (HRP) and laccase in primordia and very high level of methoxyphenols in the root of fruit body of PI. ostreatus which was about 100 times higher in comparison with PI. sajor-cuju. The levels of superoxide radicals and proteins were comparable in two kind of fungi.
