Computerized Plant Scheduling System, 1990 Corrugated Containers Conference Proceedings

Kenneth B. Kopelson--Computerized Plant Scheduling systems hold tremendous promise for the future of the Corrugated Box Industry. This paper explores the various elements of such a system and discusses the philosophies and concepts which serve as the foundation for its design and implementation. A Total Planning philosophy is introduced where the emphasis is placed on increased communications within the plant environment. Several of the benefits derived from such a system are discussed. These include improving on-time deliveries, reducing work-in-process, and increasing response time to daily scheduling problems.
