Predicting Corrugated Board Strength with Ultrasonic Testing - Field Experiences, 1993 Corrugated Containers Conference Proceedings

Johan SandstrÖm, Magnus Titus--The Ultrasonic measurement technology has been available on the market as easy-to-use instruments for a couple of years. The ultrasonic measurement gives the elastic properties of the paper which correlates well with compression strength for the linerboard and gives, together with caliper of the corrugated board, the bending stiffness of the board. This paper will describe the latest experiences from some of the mills utilizing the ultrasonic method to predict the ECT values of the corrugated board.
