1997 Corrugated Containers Conference - "Optical Corrugated Sheet Counter"

Gregory D. Bill, PE, Edward Stemberg--This paper describes a system for accurately counting individual corrugated sheets. The sheets are typically stacked as a unit load in preparation to be strapped for trailer loading. This system utilizes a high resolution video camera which is cabled to a personal computer (PC) via an electronic frame grabber. The software in the PC interprets the image from the camera to recognize and count each sheet in the stack. The PC can then print the unit load total count tag, or transmit the total count to a host computer system for ticket printing and invoicing.
