Sources of Regulated Material, 1998 Cluster Rule Symposium Proceedings

This will review the chemical compounds of concern listed in the new effluent standards, as presented by EPA in the “Cluster Rule.” The list includes both toxic and nonconventional entries. The most likely source of these compounds in a bleached mill will be discussed. Rudimentary process steps needed to attain compliance with the EPA regulation will be examined. Performance attainment will be based on examples of facilities which are already complying with the standards.
