Stripper-Off-Gas Incineration Option, 1998 Cluster Rule Symposium Proceedings
The steam condensate stripping system removes the methanol from the process condensates, putting it into the vapor phase leaving the overhead condenser in the system. The vapor can then be transported as a vapor to the incineration device, or liquefied for firing as a liquid. The pros and cons, as well as the relative costs, of each of these options are discussed.
In addition to the two options for handling the methanol from the condensate stripping system, the various alternatives for firing the methanol as either a vapor or liquid are presented. The incineration of the methanol from the stripper affects not only the heat input into the incineration device, but also the emissions from the unit.
