Manufacturing Coasts and Efficiency for North American and European Coated Papers Producers, 2000 Coating Conference Proceedings
J. Poesche--In recent years, several new paper machines producing either woodfree or woodcontaining coated communications papers have started up in the European Union. At the same time, the capacity increase of these paper grades in North America has been either incremental or through conversions of existing smaller paper machines. In this paper, the present competitive cash manufacturing cost situation along with the situation of labour productivity and paper machine efficiency will be presented. The cash manufacturing costs will include the transportation cost from North American and European mills to the Chicago market in the U.S. Midwest.
