Accurate and Fast X-Ray Fluorescence System for On-Line Coating Determination, 1991 Coating Conference Proceedings

By X-ray fluorescence methods coat weights can be determined, usually on main constituents as Ca or Ti. The system described makes such determinations with high speed and high accuracy and it makes coater adjustment fast and easy. The improvements in coater adjustments give important capacity increases in a paper machine and savings in coating materials. The system intensity and selectivity make it possible to determine coatings through measurement of minor impurities and intentionally added indicating substances.
