Vortex-Free Pressurized Pond Coater, 1995 Coating Conference Proceedings

Cyrus K. Aidun & Agnes Kovacs

Institute of Paper Science and Technology

In this study, we analyze a pressurized pond coating system that can operate in a vortex-free mode. That is, the flow upstream of the blade remains attached to the boundaries providing a flow pattern with parallel streamlines. In this mode of operation, flow instabilities and air entrainment problems can be eliminated.
