Coating Chemical Regeneration by Ultrafiltration, 1998 Coating Conference Proceedings

During the last few years, pulp and paper mills have worked to improve efficiency and profitability in order to stay competitive in a difficult market. At the same time, the mills have had to meet growing demands for an ecologically sound approach to paper and board manufacturing. This article describes a technique that helps achieve both these seemingly contradictory goals.

Ultrafiltration (UF) for the regeneration of chemicals, is a new technique now being applied to paper coating. This paper describes the results, with special emphasis on its use in mills producing fine and art paper.
