Flexible High Speed Calendering of High Quality Coated Papers, 1998 Coating Conference Proceedings

New multinip calender stack technology has been developed to improve the production and finishing of high quality coated papers. The new stack design takes advantage of several innovative features, including a unique stack loading principle which avoids the limitations of conventional supercalender loading and opens up the operating window to produce high quality at high speed. Substantial gains in calendering potential, control and flexibility are possible, including on-line finishing of coated grades.
