Headbox & Formation  ​

The quality of the end-product from a paper machine is determined at the Headbox. Hence the fundamentals of what happens here need to be well understood. The controls are complex but absolutely critical to the performance of the machine. This area has been considered too complicated for the average operator. However the Matra course tackles the challenge of explaining headbox controls to non-experts. Thanks to computer graphics and animation the concepts can be visualized clearly.

As per The Approach Flow course, at the end of the lessons the candidate uses a very interactive system called POPI which provides a sense of how the system dynamics respond to changes. All the important variables which are subject to change are made available for the candidate to manipulate and see the consequential effects on the final product.
