Online Course Description
This introductory/intermediate level online course was developed by Coastal Alabama Community College under a grant by the National Science Foundation to create a more technologically advanced operator workforce, and to address the retirements in industry by training more rapidly and completely all new employees, including new operators; and to fill in gaps in technical knowledge for experienced operators.The same comprehensive content has been successfully taught to hundreds of tissue mill operators.

Learning modules are available through TAPPI to Individuals, and as Site/Company Licenses, which allow unlimited training at a site/company; using either Browser access or uploads to a company/mill LMS.
Learning Objective:
The overall objectives are (1) to have a comprehensive overview knowledge of the technology of tissue manufacturing; and (2) understanding process variables, and their effect on product quality.

• Tissue properties: softness, absorbency and strength
• Fiber properties and effects on tissue
• Stock preparation &wet end chemicals
• Tissue machine technology: headboxes, forming, Yankee and TAD drying
• Creping chemicals & blade variables; calendering & overview of converting
