Introduction to Pulp and Paper Professional Certificate
Completion of this certificate will show you have gained significant introductory-to-intermediate knowledge of pulping and papermaking technology, including the ability to demonstrate overview knowledge of mill operations, products, process variables, equipment, and terminology.

How is the certificate test created?
Test questions were developed by Emeritus Professor Dr. Michael Kocurek, the instructor for the Introduction to Pulp & Paper Technology course.
Questions were reviewed by internationally recognized expert industry peers.

MEET THE INSTRUCTOR
Dr. Michael J. Kocurek is an Emeritus Professor of Paper Science & Engineering at North Carolina State University, a TAPPI Distinguished Award recipient, and member of the Paper Industry International Paper Hall of Fame.
He has taught Pulp & Paper Technology courses for 31 years at the University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point, and NC State; and for 44 years has taught TAPPI courses on Introduction to Pulp & Paper Technology, and other courses on Kraft Pulping, Paper Properties, Linerboard Manufacturing, and Tissue Manufacturing. He has taught in Company classrooms for new industry professionals, and technical training for thousands of mill operators for 47 years at over 200 mills. He is the author of 8 e-learning courses, and editor of 12 books on P&P.
Dr. Kocurek received his BS, MS, and PhD in Paper Science & Engineering from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science & Forestry and Syracuse University.

Testing Time: 90 minutes allotted for each portion of the test
Testing Format: Each portion is formatted with a total of 80 questions. All of the questions are multiple choice with one correct answer per question. During the test, you can use your Introduction to Pulp & Paper course Notebook, and/or the Smook book as references.
