Mill Studies where the process parameters related to cooling rolls at lamination plants are measured can be a useful
tool to increase the understanding of the lamination in general and specifically the cooling rolls. When all data are
measured for a certain production the parameters can be recalculated for other current or future types of production.
A Mill Study can also be a tool to find problems in the lamination and possible areas for improvement.
The surface texture of cooling rolls is important for the properties of the laminated product. For this reason
specifications of the cooling roll surface texture should be made with care. Glossy low friction surfaces are the most
difficult to specify with traditional surface texture parameters.
All cooling rolls will get interior deposits on the water channels with time that impair the cooling capacity of the
cooling rolls. Regular internal cleaning of the cooling rolls is important to ensure maximum cooling capacity from
the cooling rolls. There are several different methods for internal cleaning depending on the type of cooling roll.
