Mettalocene Polyethylene for Improved Performance in Collation Shrink, 2003 European PLACE Conference Proceedings
The analysis of commercially available collation shrink film samples from several European countries shows that a
broad range of film structures is used for mineral water bottle packaging. Downgauging and improved visual appeal
spur the optimization of structures. The trend to co-extrusion, which is observed in the collation shrink market,
allows this optimization.
Exceed™ metallocene polyethylene is shown to substantially improve key properties for collation shrink film:
optical properties, puncture resistance and tensile properties. The optimal use of metallocene in co-extruded
structures has been investigated: it is shown to bring step-out optical properties as well as improved machine
direction / transverse direction balance and abuse resistance.
