New Product Trends with Flooring - Direct Lamination, 1993 European Plastic Laminates Forum Proceedings
New developments within the resin impregnated paper industry have made it possible to laminate, in one step, decorative floorings on a wood based substrate. This process is referred to as direct lamination. These developments are based on improved abrasion resistance in transparent overlay papers and new designs of phenolic resin to make them compatible with melamine resin impregnated papers. The processes described are normally based on lamination in short cycle presses with typically pressing conditions <60 set,="" 170°c.="" several="" different="" types="" of="" flooring="" laminates="" are="" described:="" melamine="" impregnated="" papers="" with="" and="" without="" phenolic="" underlay(-s)="" natural="" veneer="" flooring="" with="" improved="" impact="" resistance="" and="" industrial="" flooring.="" different="" physical="" requirements="" on="" the="" flooring="" laminate,="" such="" as="" abrasive="" resistance="" and="" impact="" strength,="" can="" easily="" be="" fulfilled="" by="" selecting="" different="" impregnated="" paper="" build-ups="" in="" the="">
