Particleboards are traditionally manufactured from low quality wood materials from the forests and wood residues from saw mills and other enterprises of the wood chain. Under these circumstances, particleboards can be regarded as one of the earliest recycling products combining economy with ecology. In recent years, recycled wood has become a most interesting raw material for the production of particleboards and fibre-boards. Recycled wood is generated from waste wood assortments by careful sorting and processing. Recycled wood may contain harmful elements and compounds. Efficient sorting and purification procedures are essential to avoid a hazardous contamination of the wood-based panels. Another new approach is the installation of a material cycle by reusing waste panels and panel products. This strategy requires the development of disintegration and separation processes.
