In the last years continuous board production processes are more and more prevailing on the market, due to their technical, economical and technological advantages.

All continuous flat press types operate as double belt presses with rotating endless steel belts. The fundamental difference of the Bison Hydro-Dyn system to all other continuous presses is in applying an oil film between steel belts and press platens for reducing friction. This oil film is simultaneously serving as heat carrier. The other systems use mechanical rollers for the steel belt support transport through their presses.

The oil film guarantees a real and isobaric pressure transmission to the steel belts as well as to the board product, resulting in long life time of steel belts and high surface quality of the product.

The direct contact of the oil with the steel belts results in fastest possible heat transfer onto the product so that effective heating and cooling with different oil temperatures can be achieved in those zones where it is required.

According to these advantages direct laminating can be achieved. Direct laminating means board production and laminating in one step.
