Laminate flooring has gained tremendous success on the flooring market. In a few years, laminate flooring has come from nowhere, to become a major actor on many flooring markets. This achievement has been possible thanks to the many favourable, inherent properties offered by the laminate flooring products, fulfilling a wide range of customer demands for beautiful and durable floor coverings.
Laminate flooring is often accused of being a copy of other flooring materials. This is to some extent true, as laminate flooring so far mainly has been marketed as a concept similar to wood flooring. This reflects to a major extent the conservatism in the market, i.e. in customer demand. It is hence a challenge to combine creative design with full exploitation of advantageous physical properties to find a unique and independent position on the market.
