Extrusion Laminating With Aluminum Foil - Foiling Damages, 2001 European PLC Conference Proceedings
Aluminium foil represents the classical "high-end barrier". For flexible packaging purposes it is necessary to maintain its mechanical and barrier properties in foil based laminates. For extrusion lamination, a typical converting process, stress upon foil has been simulated in a systematic study. The preservation of the barrier properties of the Al foil by varying pressure rollers, laminating pressure, line speed, web tension, chill roll surface and extrusion thickness is explained. Recommendations for better extrusion laminating practise with Al foil are given.
