By fine slot screening, it is possible to remove the contaminants with a low fibre loss in the rejects. The
elimination of these contaminants makes it possible to increase the mechanical characteristics of papers and
paperboards without important modification of the drainability index of pulps. Consequently, the productivity of
the papermachine can only be improved and the performances of converting probably also (less deposits on the
cylinders of corrugator).
Slot screening (several stages) also has a beneficial effect since it allows to deflake the pulp by individualization
of the flakes and shives what limits the fibre losses considerably. To couple fine slot screening with lightweight
cleaning allow to eliminate more particles of hot melt glues.
The hot dispersion (low or high-speed) can be replaced by a fine slot screening step for a better decontamination
of the pulps made from brown grade recovered paper.
