Biopulping of Whole Jute Plant in Soda-AQ and Kraft Process, 2003 Fall Technical Conference

Biopulping experiments using whole jute plant were conducted with P. chrisosporium, C. subvermispora & F. lignosus in combination with the soda and Kraft process. The reduction of Kappa number was 15%, and the physical properties improved 25-30%.

In the Kraft process, cooking time was reduced by 50%. Cooking cycles can be increased which will facilitate higher throughput in existing pulp and paper mills. Both C. subvermispora and F. lignosus were found suitable for biopulping.
