My TAPPI Story: McKenna Goulette
Recent work at UOP has demonstrated the feasibility of producing hydrogen peroxide by direct synthesis from hydrogen and oxygen. The new process using this chemistry could potentially lead to significantly reduced costs of production for hydrogen peroxide. Combination of this technology with existing techniques for distributed production of hydrogen and oxygen also allows elimination of the costs associated with transportation and storage of peroxide. This paper will describe the new technology for hydrogen peroxide production and present a technical and economic analysis of distributed peroxide production for application within the pulp and paper industries.
