My TAPPI Story: McKenna Goulette
ECF bleaching has superseded the conventional chlorine bleaching on NO.3LBKP line in Hachinohe mill of Mitsubishi Paper Mills Limited in 2000. The operational data of ECF bleaching for two years made it obvious that the brightness of oxygen-delignified pulp had larger influence on the bleaching efficiency of ECF bleaching than kappa number in contrast with the case of conventional chlorine bleaching. Furthermore, it was shown that the improved ECF bleaching sequence had enabled to reduce the chemical consumption and the scale trouble which were main problems in ECF bleaching.
