My TAPPI Story: Rory Wolf
TAPPISAFE
The tack of adhesives deposited on surfaces varies with the properties of the surface. This finding could be important, e.g. in the construction of dryer cans, where the deposition of stickies and other tacky material could be problematic. Atomic force microscopy, liquid contact angle measurements, and tack probes were used to quantify differences in surface properties as the adhesive films dry on different substrates. A mechanism for the differences in tack is proposed.
