Accelerated Stem Growth Rates in Loblolly Pine, 2003 Fall Technical Conference
Accelerating the diameter growth rates in the stems of trees will lead to greater yields of wood. To do this we are
isolating and characterizing cyclin genes that regulate cell division rates. We have isolated a full length cDNA,
PtcycD1, encoding for a D type cyclin expressed in the vascular cambial zone of loblolly pine. This mRNA level of
this gene is increased when vascular cambial meristem cell division rates are increased.
