My TAPPI Story: McKenna Goulette
This paper presents results of an ongoing research program aiming at verifying the potential of including chip properties into the control of various pulp and paper processes. In particular, the paper focuses on the potential benefits of including chip properties in the prediction model of a model predictive controller for TMP pulps. Simulation examples will be provided that illustrate how the model tracks the real TMP pilot process and how process parameters can be tuned to react to incoming chip properties variations while maintaining pulp quality.
