Recycling Winders, 1992 Finishing and Converting Conference Proceedings

In today’s market it is vital to make processing machinery as up-to-date and effective as possible to improve profitability. When budgets are cut, this means that some equipment will have to continue operating in a less than peak efficiency manner at times.

What can be done? A reality in our life times is recycling. We must strive to recycle more and more products. In manufacturing, one thing that is often done and possibly can be done more is recycling of machinery. However, we don’t need to chop it up and melt it down to recycle it. We can also rebuild older machines and retrofit them with updated components to improve efficiencies. This can seem like a painful and intimidating task.

The Winding Committee Panel on "Recycling Winders" will present the panelists’ experiences and will offer some pointers on how to rebuild winders so as to achieve the expected results. In our "give-and-take" discussions we hope to provide all participants an opportunity to learn and teach each other ways of doing the job better. Therefore, attendees are encouraged to come with questions and ideas to give everyone the advantage in variety of thoughts.
