In today’s market, customers are demanding increasingly more powerful

and flexible parameter controls. These controls should range from push-button control through touch screens to fully automated operator interfaces. This paper examines current offerings for single drum, two drum, and belted winding parameter control and slitter positioning.

Flexibility of configuration, rapid prototyping, and attention to emerging viable hardware and software platforms will be emphasized. Truly market driven paper machinery vendors must restrategize controls product offerings to accommodate these growing customer concerns. Product design should be driven by customer expectations while measuring customer satisfaction.
