This paper provides a brief review of development of Roll Wrapping technology in the 90’s. Proceeds from the early man power intensive systems to todays automatic roll wrapping lines along with the advances in the wrapping materials area. Parallel development of roll tracking systems has made possible the giant steps in total systems efficiency, resulting in fully automatic systems which identify, wrap, and label shipping rolls completely untouched by human hands. Late 80’s and early 90’s saw also the development of simple roll wrapping concepts, single station wrapping lines both in low profile and overhead styles for low production rates.
