Paper manufacturers are continually challenged to improve their supercalendering productivity to meet increasing quality demands of the printing industry. Recent steam shower technologies offer several options to the manufacturers to accomplish this goal. However, many mills are constrained by space limitations on their existing calender stacks for some of these newer designs, or by budget pressures due to cyclical downturns in the paper industry making it difficult to afford the necessary improvements to their processes. A new steam shower technology has been developed which provides the paper industry with a more compact and economical option, yet retains many of the features of some of the more recent steam shower technologies.
