Today’s requirements for sheeting have become more technical than several years ago. Therefore, it is likely to expect the tolerances on sheeted paper to tighten further. To improve cutting efficiencies and achieve virtual dust free sheeting, both in the cross cut and slitting operations, it is paramount to evaluate current procedures and explore new techniques. Other items which then become essential in improving, are special surface finishes on the cutting bevel, mechanical honing and upgrading metallurgy. New technology in the knife industry has afforded some paper mills and converters the luxury of reduced downtimes for knife changes, better quality of cut and major reduction in dust contamination. This paper will cover several areas of how your mill may benefit from advanced cutting technology in sheeting into the 21st Century.
