This is an overview of the operator control station designs on wrapping lines, from benchboards to today’s personal computer-based systems. As the degree of automation has increased, development in the controls area has been keeping pace to help operators most effectively run the ever more sophisticated wrapping line. Diagnostic tools have been developed to keep uptime at a maximum, with a minimum crew. As the power of computers has increased, so has the possibility for added functions at the operator interface for enhancing the operation and improving the single operator’s work environment.
