Practical Solutions for Trim and Waste Handling Systems, 1998 Finishing and Converting Conference Proceedings
Paper Machine Winders, Sheeters and Converting Equipment continue to increase their operational speeds thus putting more demand on the Waste Handling Systems. At the same time, competitive markets have forced most of the paper manufacturers and converting operations to reduce their manpower. One area, which has been drastically reduced, is in Engineering. As a supplier, we are seeing local-engineering departments reduced to merely only a couple of project and process engineers. These engineers have the responsibility of keeping up with the daily operating problems of the mill as well as scheduled machine downs, minor/major rebuilds, and capital equipment improvements. Their time is limited and extremely valuable.
This paper includes a few of the “Practical Solutions for Trim and Waste Handling Systems” to assist the engineer in his evaluation of either his existing or future Waste Handling System. We will be reviewing the basic components of a typical pneumatic waste conveying system.
