On-Line Manufacture of Rotogravure Print Paper, 1998 Finishing and Converting Conference Proceedings

Haindl Papier founded the mill in Schongau in 1887 and used it solely to produce pulp for the main mill in Augsburg until 1905. At the beginning of this century two paper machines for newsprint were installed. Already in 1962, when waste paper did not have anywhere near the importance that it does today, the first deinking facility in the world was put into operation. During the following years, the mill in Schongau became one of the most important production sites of newsprint in Europe. Today the production capacity for one year is 560,000 t. Waste paper and TMP cover the requirements for raw materials for the three paper machines. The main source of fiber is the waste paper treatment which has a daily average output of 1,900 t air dried. The main parts of the waste paper treatment, notable for its straightforward concept, are shown in figure 1.
