The Metering Size Press was originally designed for surface sizing with starch. Today the use of Metering Size Press has widened to include coating of woodfree and wood containing paper grades. New publication and business paper grades have been developed thanks to the new coating technique. Narrow newsprint and SC machines have been equipped with the new size press and production upgraded to coated publication grades. Existing pond type size presses on woodfree machines have been replaced with Metering Size Presses for production of on machine coated grades. Finishing is both on rebuilt woodfree and wood containing machines usually done with soft nip calandering.
