My TAPPI Story: McKenna Goulette
For many years, protective coatings have been applied to try to extend the life of liquor tanks. Most of their successes and failures can be attributed to surface preparation, coating selection or coating application. This paper will discuss the factors required for a successful coating application. The first part reviews the results of long term tests in white, black and green liquor tanks in kraft pulp mills. The second part of the paper integrates these results with other field experience to provide recommendations about how to use coatings to achieve the maximum life extension of liquor tanks.
