Batch Digester Inspection Interval Extension, 2002 Fall Technical Conference

Current industry standards recommend or mandate inspections and evaluations of batch digesters on an annual basis. In many instances, paper mills have completed extensive repairs and overlay of their batch digesters to ensure safe continued operation. In addition, inspection and repair techniques have improved to enhance this safety record. Future careful examinations of the digester, with adequate repairs to deficient areas and careful record keeping, may allow a mill to extend the inspection interval to two years and possibly three depending on the particular circumstances.
