Improving the competitiveness of the Forest Products Industry by Accelerating the Research, Development and Adoption of Innovative Technologies Through a Center for Technology Transfer, 2002 Fall Technical Conference

The U.S. DOE Industries of the Future (IOF) program creates partnerships among industries, trade associations, universities, government and other entities to accelerate research, development and delivery of advanced energy efficiency, renewable energy, and pollution prevention technologies to nine industry sectors, including Forest Products. Currently a program with Focus on Energy, the State of Wisconsin and the U.S. DOE formally created the Wisconsin IOF (WI-IOF) program in October 2001. Since then, WIIOF has developed technology roadmaps and Action Teams that work on priority needs for eight industry sectors. An often-identified priority need was an organization dedicated to a targeted, systematic approach to technology transfer. A Center for Technology Transfer has been established in Wisconsin, with its initial focus on the Forest Products Industry. The Center’s goals are to accelerate the research, development and adoption of innovative technologies, build and enhance partnerships, and become a national center for the Forest Products industry.
