My TAPPI Story: McKenna Goulette
Most deinking plants have some kind of washing stage to remove fine inks and ash from the stock. Usable fiber tends to be removed with the washer filtrate that, if not recovered, reduces process yield. The following paper discusses the experience at one deinking plant with novel equipment used to recover fiber from stock washer filtrate. Mill personnel discovered the optimum feed pressure for these fiber recovery filters that maximized retention of long fiber fractions and recovered 8 – 9 tonnes/day of usable fiber.
