Fibre Supply and Demand for Papermaking, 1995 Global Fiber Supply Symposium Proceedings
Rosely M. Viegas Assumpcao--The actual situation of the fibre supplies concerning forest resources, wood pulp, other fibres and secondary fibre was analyzed. The utilization of secondary fibre in the paper furnish is higher than 30 % in Africa, Asia and Latin America and lower than 30 % in Europe and North America despite the high waste paper recovery rates in those regions. A scenario for the fibre demand by the year 2000 is presented and it indicates that, with a percentage of secondary fibre in the paper furnish around 31 % and using other fibres at the actual leve, the requirements for wood pulp will be practically at the same level than in 1994.
