New Hot Melt Technologies Offer More Choices in Building Components Assembly, 1991 Hot Melt Symposium Proceedings
The beneficial characteristics of thermoplastic adhesives and sealants in rapid bond formation have extended their use in industrial manufacturing operations over the last 40 years. Many hot melt formulations, such as EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate) initially used in packaging applications, have led to the development of dispensing equipment for use in other markets, such as building and construction.
During recent years, dispensing equipment suppliers have formed partnerships with adhesive and sealant formulators to address new applications and improve performance in existing ones. This presentation will offer an overview of how hot melt adhesives and sealants are finding opportunities in the bonding and sealing of building components and materials.
Several factors can be identified that are responsible for the present marketplace climate, including: increasing government legislation, as well as new formulation and application equipment developments.
