The advent of global competition has heightened the awareness of the need to produce world class quality products and services. The response which companies have made to attain world class quality have varied both in approach and degree of success. This paper will describe the approach which has been taken by Bridgestone/Firestone, Inc. and its subsidiary, the Firestone Synthetic Rubber & Latex Company, and point out the key attributes that are necessary to achieve Total Quality Control.
