Repulpable Hot Melt Adhesives, A Customer Perspective, 1994 Hot Melt Symposium Proceedings

A. E. Wheeler

The traditional batch inclusion packaging supplies to the paper manufacturing industry has historically been based upon the pasted valve bag. The carefully selected and tested constituents of the Pasted Valve bag are all inclusive to the paper manufacturing process. Changing Technologies demand a move from the pasted valve bag to the pinch bottom open mouth, (PBOM) bag within specific industries. This has created a need for a preapplied Hot Melt Adhesive which is repulpable to the extent of the Pasted Valve bag technology. A discussion of considerations such as Test Methods, Screening, Manufacture, Storage, Handling, Application, Transportation, Shipping, End Use and FDA requirements are entertained.
