Acrylic based hotmelt pressure sensitive adhesives (hmpsa)gained only minor market shares due to a lack of balance between peel adhesion and shear properties at elevated temperatures. A recently introduced range of UV curable acrylic based hotmelt pressure sensitive adhesives are applied as prepolymer blends at moderate coating temperatures. These new products combine an excellent balance of psa properties with outstanding UV and chemical resistance properties. Chemical properties as well as coating and curing technique will be discussed. New UV curable, acrylic based hmpsa’s will be presented for applications such as removable and permanent film label applications, laser copying labelstock constructions, and coated mounting tapes (both single and double sided) which require higher coat weights.
