While Tall Oil Rosin availability is constrained by world-wide Kraft paper production levels, Gum Rosin availability grows steadily through genetic selection techniques. For the adhesive formulator, this signifies availability of non-crystallizing rosin acids, higher melt point ester gums, and custom tailored abietic acid derivatives.
This paper will present the projected availability of gum, wood, and tall oil rosin followed by a presentation of the differences in rosin types and the effect of their differences upon rosin derivatives and adhesive systems.
